Assignment 4

1. When you look at this picture the first thing you would think is probably how sad and lost she looks. She looks up to the sky in search for answers and realizes they aren't there. The photo being in black and white emphasises her tears and smeared makeup because of them. The broken window also symbolizes loss.

2. This photo is of a young woman who looks to have be in despair. She is resting against an old building by a bubbled window that has a broken piece missing. Looking at her eyes you see she has been crying, and her make-up has smeared down her cheeks because of it. She is looking to the sky in hopes of an answer to her many questions, and you can see the confusion on her face.

3. The line quality is very clear and the photo being in black and white shows more of the value of her skin tone, the difference in quality of the old building, and the light reflection of the glass window. This was taken in an alley way off of Main street by the railroad tracks.

4. "Surrender" does not necessarily tell a certain story. If you have ever known loss, if you have ever know confusion and sorrow, this is for your story.

5. Although Edgar Degas drawings are primarily of ballerinas, they still show emotion. Some of the girls show little emotion on their face, but they way he draws them its almost as though your looking at a girl who is doing something she is forced to do. On the other hand other girls in his drawings do have pure delight and happiness on their lines. My photo shows the opposite of emotions but still it is pure emotion.
